Know every cheese you meet.
Point your camera at a cheese label and Cheese Lover tells you which cheese it is, where it comes from, what it tastes like and what to drink with it. Then you rate it, note the flavors you found and keep a journal of every cheese you have tasted. The library holds almost 1,000 cheeses from 70 countries, each written up for the app and checked against its protected-origin rules or its maker.
Photograph a label and the app reads it on your phone, with no connection needed, and matches the name against the library. For a cut wedge, a rind or a cheese shop's chalkboard, Apple Intelligence looks at the whole photo on your device and suggests up to three cheeses, saying how sure it is. Photo identification needs iOS 27 and an iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence.
Every tasting keeps your rating in half stars, the flavors you noticed, a photo, where you bought it and what you paid. You can search it, export it whenever you like, and keep a list of cheeses you want to try next.
Browse the library by style or country, filter by milk and strength, and read a short guide to each of the twelve styles. Find a pairing works the other way round too. Pick a bottle you already have and see the cheeses that suit it.
Tell the Fridge when you open a cheese and it works out how long it keeps and how to wrap it, with a reminder the evening before it's past its best. Passport maps the countries and regions you have tasted and reads your ratings for the flavors you love. Tasting flights put three to eight cheeses in tasting order, from mild to strong, and work out how much to buy for your guests.
The library, the journal, label scanning, the top pairings for each cheese, one tasting flight and three photo identifications a month are free, with no time limit. Cheese Lover Pro adds unlimited photo identification, every pairing and pairing by drink, the Fridge, the Passport map and taste profile, suggestions of what to try next, unlimited flights with shopping lists, and iCloud sync between iPhone and iPad. Your journal stays yours and exportable whether you subscribe or not.
There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your journal lives on your device, and in your own iCloud if you turn on sync. Your photos never leave your device either, because label reading and photo identification both run on it.
