Cheese Lover does not collect your data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no behavioral tracking and no third-party software development kit in the app, and it has no server of its own. Nobody working on Cheese Lover can see what you enter or the photos you take.
Everything you record is kept on your device. With Cheese Lover Pro and "Sync with iCloud" turned on, it is also kept in your own private iCloud database so it reaches your other devices. Apple holds that copy under your Apple Account, and the developer of Cheese Lover can't read it.
Cheese Lover keeps your tastings (the cheese, your rating, flavors, notes, the date, where you bought it, the price and whether you'd buy it again), any photos you attach, your want-to-try list, tasting flights, the cheeses in your Fridge and the styles you chose when you set the app up. The camera is used only when you take a photo, and your photo library is opened only through the system picker, so the app sees just the photos you choose. Cheese Lover never asks for your location. The Passport map shows where cheeses come from, not where you are.
Reading a label uses Apple's Vision framework, and identifying a cheese from a photo uses Apple Intelligence's on-device model. Both run on your iPhone or iPad. Your photos are never sent to Cheese Lover or to anyone else. A photo is kept only if you attach it to a tasting, and then it is stored like the rest of your journal.
Purchases are handled by Apple. Cheese Lover never sees your payment details. The app uses verified purchase records to check subscription access.
Settings in Cheese Lover has a "Delete all my data" control that removes every tasting, photo, flight, Fridge item and want-to-try cheese from your device and, when sync is on, from your iCloud on all your devices. Deleting the app also removes its local data.
